The Sentinel has teamed up with the New Vic to offer three lucky readers a pair of tickets for A Taste of Honey starring Shameless and Phoenix Nights stars Joanne Higson and Janice Connolly.

Joanna stars as Jo, a 17-year-old working-class girl who lives with her promiscuous mother, Helen. When Helen begins a relationship with a new toyboy, Jo becomes involved with Jimmy, a black sailor.

However, it was on TV Joanna that gave her the big break when she was cast as feisty nurse Maxine Donnelly in Channel 4's BAFTA-winning comedy Shameless.

She was already a fan before she joined the cast for series six. "I'm from a northern estate myself, and Shameless seemed to be so truthful, almost as if the telly had come to your own estate.

"The associations are not necessarily negative, but it's true to life. Young people like it because it says something to them."
