THE Sentinel has a terrific prize for jump racing fans – a VIP day for two at the John Smith’s Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter on Saturday.

Last year, the Victor Dartnell-trained Russian Trigger won a thrilling race after overhauling Flintoff – owned by cricketer Freddie Flintoff – on the run-in to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

And all the signs suggest another great day of action this weekend in front of 15,000 race fans.

The winner of our competition, along with a partner or friend, will be in the VIP suite for one of the great long distance steeplechases in the racing calendar.

But this fantastic prize also includes admission to Uttoxeter’s Premier Enclosure, race cards, lunch, afternoon tea ... and a free bar all afternoon.

As well as that, Uttoxeter Racecourse is also providing three pairs of Grandstand and Paddock admission badges for our three runners-up.

The closing date for entries is noon on Thursday, March 18, and all entrants must be aged 18 or above to be eligible. The winner of the competition will be notified by phone. No cash alternative is available and the editor’s decision is final.

TIMES AND ADMISSION

THE first race of the John Smith’s Midlands Grand National meeting is scheduled for 2.05pm, with the finale at 5.25pm. The Midlands Grand National is at 3.10pm.

Entrance gates will be open from 11am.

Admission is £27 (Premier Enclosure), £22 (Grandstand and Paddock) and £12 (Centre Course Family Enclosure). There is a £2 discount for booking Premier and Grandstand and Paddock tickets online at www.uttoxeter-racecourse.co.uk Children under 16 enter free when accompanied by an adult. Senior citizens get a £3 discount in Premier and Grandstand and Paddock on the day.
