Weather update: Region escapes worst of winter storms
NORTH Staffordshire awoke to snow again this morning as wintry weather continued to grip the region.
But the overnight snowfall was mostly light, compared to other parts of the Midlands.

A severe storm has been battering much of England and Wales, with heavy rain and snow causing flooding and power cuts.
Forecasters said some areas recorded close to their monthly average rainfall for February in just 24 hours.
Meanwhile, a band of snow stretching from south Wales into the Midlands left up to 3,000 homes without electricity in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
The storm also brought strong winds, with gusts of up to 60mph in coastal areas, forecasters said.
Virgin Trains cancelled some services between London and Birmingham and Manchester yesterday and today.
According to the Met Office, temperatures will range from freezing to a maximum of 3C in and around Stoke-on-Trent today.
Forecasters say there will be sunny intervals throughout the day, although more light snow showers are predicted tonight.

“Don't worry I have looked at all the data, and it predicts a heatwave in the next few days.
Dad I think I got it wrong again.!”

“responsible council... lol thats a good one Graham..
I think where the safety of vehicles are concerned; it doesn't really matter if they use rock salt.. table salt.. baked beans.. whatever.. as long as it clears the roads and makes them safe to use.. corrosion is the least of our worries especially when it's only applied perhaps over a period of 4 weeks per year.
Now as per the story.. has anyone else noticed how poor the weather forecast has been over the last 6 months? Yes I know they are pretty rubbish anyway; but it has got vaguer and vaguer until now.. they even say.. possible snow.. possible rain.. possible sun; seems the whole weather forecast is a work of fiction exepcially since the met office spent close to a billion poound on their new weather modeler 3 years ago!
Crazy!”

“I am sure that if the council resorts to using pad salt which is a by product of table salt and this were to be much more corrosive to vehicles, being a responsible council, then they would warn us, would they not. ??”
