RETIRED Carol Hurd has lived in the same property in Middleport for more than three decades.

The mother-of-one, pictured left, of Travers Street, said she was glad efforts were finally being made to restore what was once a wonderful place to live.

Her home is being bulldozed as part of Renew's regeneration work, but she is hoping to relocate to a bungalow in nearby Navigation Street.

The 60-year-old said: "Obviously it will be a pull when I finally go from here, but I don't mind as long as it will good for the area.

"When we first moved here, it was a wonderful place to live and although it's had problems in recent years, we've never wanted to live anywhere else.

"I am glad they are finally investing some money in the area.

"I think the plans for the outdoor gardens are good too as long as they maintain them.

"The houses in Port Street have the potential to look good.

"That pottery factory is part of our heritage."
