A VILLAGE fete has attracted a record number of visitors.

The Bagnall Chestnut Queen Fete helps to raise funds to maintain the Moorlands Village Hall building in School Road, Bagnall.

Retiring queen India Pearson raised £1,940.00 during her year in the post. She will be replaced by Megan Sargeant, aged nine.

Chairman of the fete committee Samantha Calvert said "It is too soon to know the final figures at this stage, but early indications suggest that we have raised a good sum of money for our village hall.

"As a free event, it is difficult to be sure of the figures, but they were clearly our highest ever with perhaps as many as 700 people visiting our village."

Samantha is now urging residents to help organise next year's event.
