Stead was later interviewed under caution but was not charged until February 2008.
This afternoon, he was jailed for life at Stafford Crown Court for murdering Anita, aged 39, by torching the house in Slindon Close, Waterhayes.
Prosecutors described Stead as a "cold-blooded" killer who "entombed" his wife in the garage as he feared losing his children to her in a divorce. He had also taken out a life insurance policy in her name.
