ACCORDING to The WorldWatch Institute, the consumption of animal products is responsible for 51 per cent of human-made greenhouse gases. So going vegan is the easiest way to stop global warming.

“I saw a documentary a few months ago which claimed that the Earth had gone through 50,000 ice ages. Yes, 50,000. How that figure was arrived at beats me but even if there's only been ten ice ages that's a lot of cooling and warming without a factory farm or internal combustion engine in sight. The documentary also claimed that the planet is warming up now because we're still emerging from the last ice age.

We need to cut down on our consumption of fossil fuels, not because of global warming, but because we're dependant on foreign governments for our energy and that's a dangerous position to be in.

If we all turn vegan and there's a bad harvest what do we do for food? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against vegans, in fact I love Star Trek, although the vegans weren't my favourites, what with their green blood and pointed ears!!!!”

“I wonder what percentage of Global Warming can be attributed to all the hot air that emanates from people like The WorldWatch Institute?”

“Three top gas producers: sprout consumption, decomposing matter and ruminants. It seems that greenhouse gases are an inescapable fact of life whatever diet we choose. Global warming is a cyclical phenomenon, has little to do with human intervention and more to do with the fickle nature of our sun. Our puny attempts to alter global warming will have negligible results.
That is not to say that energy and carbon reduction is not a good thing. Far from it.”

“And then we will be producing all the gases! Humans can convert protein from an animal more quickly than from a nut or veg and although it can still produce protein from these it takes longer and you need more of it. Fish is the best source of protein and easilly digestable as well as not taking up any land space or farting. But then of course the seas would be overfished and full of petrol guzzling boats.”
