Johnstone's Paint Trophy: Port Vale beaten, but Crewe Alexandra progress
PORT Vale were sent tumbling out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy following a 2-0 home defeat by Bradford City last night.
Ritchie Jones broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half, with Craig Forsyth doubling the Bantams' advantage to settle the quarter-final tie.

"I'm disappointed we've gone out and we've done so in a fashion that doesn't please me.
"I'm offering no excuses, but I'm just thankful it wasn't a league game. I don't want to take anything away from Bradford.
"They were excellent and certainly better than us.
"Both teams made changes, but the players who came into their side looked like they wanted it more than the ones who came into mine."
But there was better news for Crewe Alexandra, who advanced to the next round with a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Doncaster at Gresty Road after the sides had been locked at 1-1.
Mathias Pogba had given Crewe the lead, but after Matt Tootle had been sent off for two bookings, the visitors levelled in second-half injury-time through Chris Brown.
However, Crewe kept their nerve in the shoot-out to win as Gregor Robertson fired home the decisive kick.
Alex assistant boss Neil Baker said: "It wasn't a great game, even though it must have been quite exciting for the fans. We're pleased to be through to the next round.
"We've been working on penalties and seven or eight lads wanted to take them. We never looked like missing."

“it was a big event before we lost,now even micky says it wasnt important ,sorry but wrong attitude for any manager to say that,so in other words dont bother spending your hard earned cash to come and see us in cup matches cus were only interested in leauge matches.had we have won adams would be singing the johnsons paint trophys praises and we would have been closer to a final ....they all count micky”
