Update: Swine flu school does not need to close
HEALTH officials who confirmed a case of swine flu at a Longton school say it does not need to close.
One member of staff tested positive for swine flu at Edensor Technology College after returning from a trip abroad.

NHS North Staffordshire and the Health Protection Agency issued a statement this afternoon.
It read: "The NHS can confirm a case of swine flu at the Edensor College of Technology, Longton.
"The patient, who returned recently from an overseas trip, is making a full recovery at home.
"The local NHS and the Health Protection Agency has carried out a full risk assessment and has agreed that there is no public health need for the school to close at present.
"However, it is important for people to remain vigilant and the head teacher at the college has written to parents to ask them to be observant and check their children for flu symptoms.
"The Health Protection Agency will continue to monitor the situation in the college closely.

“why is everyone being so stupid, IT'S ONLY SWINE FLU, WHICH IS CONTROLABLE, everyone needs to calm down. I am a pupil at Edensor Technology College and it doesn't bother me and I don't think anyone is to blame for it. ( not even the person who caught it ) it's life”

“Uncle Nobby, how are you mate, I'll tell you what worrys me more then the first two commenters holding a vote, a that is they are allowed to bread and look after there offspring. They are suffer from dyslaxia, I suffer from that and you can understand me, I think they are just plain silly. Anyway, on to the story, if that school is open, and the children are fit and healthy, they need to atend, we don't need them turning out like the first two commenters.”

“I believe that education is everything in this modern day world. These children need to get their education or they could end up in a similar situation to poor John Paul. However Mick i think you also need to go about a different way with your sons, and give them a proper lesson in morals. As long as they know that no means no and yes means yes, they will get through life fine. I taught this valuable information to my young Jack and he now is an avid campaigner for the rights of the homosexual community, along with his partner Myles.”
