A WOMAN kicked an ambulance paramedic in the stomach as she was being taken to hospital.

Lisa Field had not wanted to go with them, District Judge David Taylor heard.

Jenny Ecclestone, prosecuting at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court, said an ambulance had been called to Tesco, in Hanley, where Field was seen to have a lump on her head and smelled strongly of drink.

She said as Field was being taken to the vehicle she kept throwing herself on the floor.

Mrs Ecclestone said: "The paramedic, Ann Armstrong, was kicked in the stomach by Field during a struggle inside the ambulance and it caused her to fall towards the doors."

Field, aged 37, of Hope Street, Hanley, pleaded guilty to common assault on December 20 last year.

She was given a community order for 12 months, an alcohol treatment requirement and a six-month curfew order and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

David Green, defending, said: "My client expresses her apologies. She is disgusted by her actions."

“What a idiot this one must be, how old, 37, not in the first flush of youth realy is she, needs to grow up and stop drinking so much. I agree with the other poster, not worth getting hurt to help, leave her outside the shop to sober up. Nice to hear that she as been given treatment thought.”
