Cost of deporting Vietnamese less than time in care
With regards to the 15-year-old Vietnamese boy who Judge Granville Styler has sent to live in a specialist care accommodation instead of being deported because of his age (The Sentinel, March 16), while I agree that he can't be deported on his own due to his age, as the airlines would not allow him to fly, this is because he is regarded as a minor and not allowed to travel on his own.
This Vietnamese boy can be deported tomorrow.
The judge at the court only has to appoint an approved adult, say a court official or someone from the immigration agency, to travel with this boy on the flight back home and the airlines would allow him to travel. The cost of a return airfare for this adult to accompany this drug grower would be a lot less than the thousands of pounds it is going to cost us taxpayers to keep him in care for three years.
