Hanley Register Office held its first wedding fair on Sunday.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council organised the event, at the Register Office in Hanley Town Hall, for 100 visitors to receive help from wedding suppliers.

Fifteen businesses from the area showcased their wedding services which included dresses, cars, jewellery and stationery.

Visitors also took advantage of the registrars at the event who discussed the variety of services available at the register office.

They were able to view the ceremony room that can be used for naming ceremonies, renewal of vows and citizenship, wedding and civil ceremonies.

Five bookings were taken on the day for the traditionally decorated ceremony room, which can seat 70, and local businesses were pleased with the interest in their services.

Councillor Joan Bell, portfolio holder for community safety and neighbourhood management, said: "We do everything we can to make sure that a wedding day or civil partnership is special."
