UEFA to roll into town to give City Centre Europa fever
By Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Thousands of Stoke City fans can soak up the build-up to their Europa League tie with Spanish giants Valencia early when Adidas and UEFA's promotional wagon rolls into the City Centre for its first ever visit.
Footy fanatics can see the truck, loaded with a giant 3m ball, mini games and competition prizes including the official match ball, scarves, caps, mini balls, lanyards and tickets for the match, arrive in Tontine Square on February 15, ahead of kick off on February 16.
It comes following Stoke City's progression into the final 32 of the Europa League following their success in the group stage earlier in the season.
Councillor Mark Meredith, cabinet member for economic development, said: "Stoke City's rise over recent years has gone a long way to putting this city on the map. With this season's European exploits we have been able to tap into a completely new market and show the wider world what Stoke-on-Trent has to offer.
"It's the first time we have hosted this promotional truck and hopefully, with the clubs continued success, we can expect many more visits in the future. I want to wish Stoke City the best of luck for the match with Valencia and hope the fans enjoy the match with one of Europe's finest and most decorated sides."
Andreas Pletl, Project Lead UEFA Europa League: "The UEFA Europa League Truck tour has been a great success and is a continued sign of Adidas' support of the UEFA Europa League. We are very excited to be visiting Stoke on Trent with the UEFA Europa League Truck for the first time."
The truck will arrive in Tontine Square before 10am and leave at around 4pm.
