Tune in with Alan Cookman
Mike Harding R2, 7pm
Performance On 3 R3, 7pm
MIKE Harding's guest tonight is Julie Fowlis, the award-winning Scottish singer, musician and broadcaster.
Julie has the distinction of being the first Gaelic Ambassador – Tosgaire na Gàidhlig – appointed by the Scottish Parliament. With her Gaelic translation of Blackbird, from The Beatles' White Album, she became the first Scottish Gaelic artist to feature on the BBC Radio 2 playlist. Named Folk Singer of the Year in 2008, she talks to Harding and introduces tracks from her third solo album, Uam.
In tonight's R3 concert from the Royal Festival Hall, Christoph von Dohnányi conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in a programme featuring the Hebrides overture by Mendelssohn and Brahms' Symphony No 3.
