UPDATE 1600: Swansea City have rejected a bid of £6.2 million from Manchester City for Scott Sinclair, BBC Sport Wales understands.

Earlier reports suggested Swansea had accepted a bid from City, but chairman Huw Jenkins said on Monday that a deal had not been reached.

Jenkins hit out at Manchester City for the way they handled their pursuit of Scott Sinclair.

Jenkins was unhappy at how long the deal has dragged.

Sinclair has told the club he will not sign a new contract.

Meanwhile City are expected to step up their pursuit of Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes this week, and are confident of signing him for £5 million.

Sky Sports understands Middlesbrough would like Stephen Dobbie included in any deal that could take Emnes to Swansea.

While Boro would ideally not like to lose Emnes they are contemplating his sale, as it would allow Mowbray to further add to his squad.

Meanwhile Michael Laudrup said he is happy to wait for long-serving defender Garry Monk to decide on whether he wants to leave Swansea City before the transfer window closes.

Laudrup told the South Wales Evening Post: "As I have said to him and generally to the other players, this is the last week where everybody can think about themselves and take some decisions for their futures.”

Wycombe Wanderers

The Wanderers have signed free agent Jo Kuffour on a short-term deal, BBC Sport reports.

The player left Gillingham at the end of the 2011-12 season.

Walsall

Walsall have completed the signing of free agent Andy Taylor on a non-contract basis, BBC Sport reports.

The 26-year-old defender, who began his career at Blackburn Rovers, was released by Sheffield United earlier this summer.

Torquay United

Karl Baker has signed a short-term deal with United following a trial, BBC Sport reports.

The 22-year-old winger was previously a youth player at the club.

Torquay United boss Martin Ling is keen to reinforce squad with defensive cover.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have launched bids or inquiries for around £80 million worth of playing talent, according to the Daily Telegraph, following Luka Modric’s £33 million departure to Real Madrid.

The club have submitted a bid to sign 22-year-old France midfielder Yann M'Vila from Rennes, BBC Sport reported yesterday.

It is understood Spurs have proposed a fee of £12.7m with add-ons, although Rennes want an unconditional £15m.

According to The Times, Tottenham also hope to complete the triple signing of Moussa Dembele, 25, from Fulham, Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, 25, and Shakhtar Donetsk striker Willian, 24.

Lloris has been linked with a move to Tottenham for much of the summer, with Lyon reportedly demanding €15 million (£11.9m) for the France international.

Queens Park Rangers

UPDATE 1600: Sky Sports sources understand Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar has arrived at Loftus Road to hold talks over a move to Queens Park Rangers.

The Brazilian goalkeeper is set to sign with QPR, in a move which will see him replace Rob Green.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that 32-year-old Cesar was in London on Monday, and is expected to complete a transfer for an undisclosed fee.

The Inter Milan keeper had two years left on his contract.

According to the Mail, the signing is expected to be confirmed on Wednesday.

In other news, QPR midfielder Joey Barton has announced on Twitter his reported move to Marseille has fallen through.

He wrote on the social networking site: "Doesn't look like this Marseille thing is gonna happen now. 'Whatever doesn't kill you make you stronger' #heartbroken".

The 29-year-old midfielder is currently without a squad number at Loftus Road having been served with a 12-match Football Association suspension following his sending off at Manchester City last season.

He will now return to training with Rangers. The player tweeted:"Been forced to go back training with the kids and fellow Taliban members at 2pm today..."

West Ham

Both West Ham and Bolton have bid for Charlton Athletic defender Chris Solly, Sky Sports reports.

A number of clubs have been linked with Solly, and the player has been on West Ham’s radar for some time.

In other news, a return to West Ham could be on the cards for Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole.

talkSPORT understands a formal offer is being prepared by Hammers’ chiefs, and then the decision will rest with Cole.

The radio station reported yesterday that Cole is believed to be among the players at Liverpool who have been told they can leave the club and West Ham, who brought the 30-year-old through their academy, have agreed a deal in principle for him to make a sensational return to Upton Park.

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is preparing to make a last-minute swoop for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reported yesterday that Rodgers is ready to sell Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing this week to raise the funds to continue his rebuilding plans, and Sturridge is at the top of his hit-list.

The Mirror says Chelsea are aware of Liverpool’s interest, although a bid has yet to come in. The newspaper says the club may be reluctant to sell if it leaves them short of attacking options.

Aston Villa

Belgian international striker Christian Benteke has emerged as a leading target for Villa, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Paul Lambert is believed to be pursuing a deal for the 21-year-old, who plays for Belgian club Genk.

Fulham

Sunderland winger Kieran Richardson is Fulham’s latest target, according to The Sun.

The club is understood to be weighing up a £2million bid for him.

Southampton

Uruguayan winger Gaston Ramirez is set to join Southampton on a record £11 million deal.

According to the Mirror Ramirez, 21, has penned a five-year contract worth around £45,000 a week, just days after the move appeared to have collapsed.

Manchester City

UPDATE 1640: The agent of Manchester City striker John Guidetti claims talks regarding a possible contract extension for his client are ongoing.

Sky Sports revealed last week that the frontman was to be offered a new long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium. City are keen to agree fresh terms with the player amid mounting interest in his services.

Meanwhile City boss Roberto Mancini could be set to swoop for Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper yesterday reported that Mancini sent one of his trusted lieutenants, coach Fausto Salsano, to watch the former Real Madrid player in action on Sunday.

The midfielder has a £25 million buy-out clause.

Everton

Everton have made an enquiry for Dundee United's forward Johnny Russell, Sky Sports understands.

The club is believed to be interested in the 22-year-old, who was called into the Scotland squad for the end-of-season friendly against the USA in May.

Bolton

Sky Sports understands Bolton are one of five clubs chasing Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing.

Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers, Southampton and Wolves are all keeping tabs on the player’s situation at Anfield.

Spearing has been pushed down the pecking order at Anfield this season, and was not included in Liverpool's 18-man squad for last weekend's game with Manchester City.

Bolton are thought to be leading the race for Spearing, who is expected to make a decision on his long-term future before the close of the transfer window.
