Traders back boy racer ban
BUSINESSES are backing a proposed injunction to ban boy racers from Festival Park.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire Police have been working on an application for an injunction following complaints from residents about car cruisers that gather on the retail park.

Traders back boy racer ban
Several businesses based in the area, including Waterworld and the Moat House Hotel, have provided supporting evidence about the problems experienced due to boy racers.
David Pointon, manager of the Esporta sports complex, said the club has had to close earlier on weekends because female clients have been intimidated by large groups in the car park.
He said: "Like most businesses on the park we have had problems over the years. The biggest one was for females leaving the club at night. Having a lot of cars on the car park and speeding round was intimidating for them. We used to open until 10pm at the weekend, but we changed that to 8pm, which is before the bulk of them arrive.
"We would definitely be behind an injunction."

“I never said the tax payers should provide the cash to find them some where to go but who do u think is paying for the injunction the ordinary tax payer just like me. The lads and lasses who are truly car mad would attend the track and those wanting to learn more i used to provide lessons at a race circuit not just for the general public but to the so called boy racers who'd been in constant trouble with the police.”

“I think it's so funny that they car called car enthusiasts! What a hoot! We all know they are there to drink, be rowdy and race their cars! Does it really matter who pays for it as long as something is done?
Cosworth - just because none those deaths happened in Festival Park, doesn't mean that it won't happen.
Laura - If you are so stupid that you can't find anything better to do that get drunk then you probably should not be allowed out without supervision - much less be allowed an opinion.
Gordon - nice idea but when it's all legal and above board, it won't be interesting anymore.”

“I'm tired of hearing that taxpayers hould some how fund this activity by 'finding a place' for boy racers to meet. Organise yourselves if you're that keen - no one owes you anything. That means - go get a bank loan, rent some land, buy insurance and charge an entry fee - if you can be bothered.”

“Yes i agree move the car enthusiasts not but give them some where to go and meet in a safe environment. There's 2 schemes i know of one in the US and one in New Zealand where one of the local race ways opens its doors i think its twice maybe 3 times a week at night providing the enthusiasts with somewhere to go.At these events not only do they get a chance to take a run on the track but there are also experts there to help out on tuning ideas and any mechanical problems they may suffer whilst there. They also work in partnership with the local police force's to make sure the cars are road legal and if a person has been in any form of trouble with the police they are banned from attending the track. So my idea get the local council, police and general noitalls together with the car enthusiasts and lets find a piece of land that could be turned into something to be proud of not only could it be used for these meetings but eventually could well be used for car shows and other events. There's nothing stopping us inviting the bigger tuning company's to the meets to show of there new toys and other car club's.”

“when will they give it a rest. they are happy to take our money off us.. but then want to get rid of us. the majority of us do not cause trouble. it is the minority who cause the trouble.. ban them. not us who are decent people just meeting friends. old people are alot worse than young people.. believe me. but no one wants to ban them do they. typical.. being stereotyped, all the time. what exactly is their to do in stoke on trent apart from go out and get drunk?!?!”

“No the music was just a joke but lets get serious. I know of 15 boy racers within the country that have had serious accidents within the last year.
They are
¿ 2 in Burslem
¿ 1 in Fenton
¿ 4 Wilmslow Manchester
¿ 2 Helens Liverpool
¿ 3 Redditch
¿ 2 in West Bromwich.
To top it all up I attended their funeral. That is more than 1 funeral a month.
So when is it your turn? Please drive safely.
Think of the people you have left at home and what an impact it will have on them. When they find out that their son, brother, cousin or friend has just died from a car crash.
All them boy use to say that it will never happen to me and look were they are if you are not careful your going to end up there.
This is not a lecture it is a reality check.”
