BUSINESS leaders have voiced concerns that paperwork may be holding up construction of a new supermarket.

Almost 30 people attended the Biddulph Business Chamber at Biddulph Grange on Monday to hear about the lack of progress on the Sainsbury's  planned for the area from the bypass to Station Road.

Chamber spokesman Graeme Court, aged 63, said: "The entire site, bar one shop, is boarded up. This does nothing for the area and we want to know how long we are going to have to live with this scar on the landscape."

The chamber spoke to a Sainsbury's representative last week and will continue to seek progress updates from the supermarket and the council.

Members also discussed the proposed medical centre to be built on Wharf Road car park.
