A BEER brewed in Staffordshire has been banned from a Parliamentary bar because its pump plate featured a half-naked lady.

Top Totty, brewed by Stafford-based Slater’s Ales, was being sold as a guest beer in Westminster watering hole Strangers’ Bar before attracting a complaint.

Shadow equalities minister Kate Green claimed she was left ‘disturbed’ by after seeing the four per cent ale’s label and demanded bar staff remove it from sale. It was taken off within 90 minutes.

Stafford MP Jeremy Lefroy organised for the beer to be sold at the bar and said at the time it was a ‘great opportunity to showcase a fantastic and award-winning beer’.

Ukip’s MEP representing Stafford, Mike Nattrass, branded Ms Green ‘a humourless sort’.

He said: “This sort of knee-jerk Puritanism does more to damage the cause of equality than 1,000 beer labels. It suggests that to be in favour of equality you must be a dour-faced, insult-searching misery.”

“The 'Green' and the 'Red' -voting arrows. Intriguing sometimes -how we all deliberate; some preferring to 'give it the arrow' rather than explain why?
I'm personally happy with that of course -who am I too complain of comment... but just one thing, ask yourself if you are 'hitting the arrow' -red or green -as a vote 'for' or 'against' the point of view of view expressed, or simply 'shooting the messenger'.... tempting as that might be, given the amount of ill-feeling that goes on between some of the 'commentators' on this site.

Democratic comment works best when clarity of purpose is established and made clear. Chavs, are you listening? Stay on the bricks and stay warm. Top chav.”

“-'...Why not go aroung changing street names too."

You may not believe this, and I don't blame you if you don't -but a couple or so of centuries ago -in what is now referred to as 'the city' -in London -there was -officially, a street named (and I'll have to use asterisks here) --Great C*nt Lane.

How the broad minds have narrowed.

ps If you search into the archives you will find it. I heard it mentioned on a Programme on Radio 4 a few years ago.”

“There are far worse product names out there that should be banned. Top Totty is just a bit of fun. Reminds me of a Carry On Film. I can imagin Syd James saying it.”
