ADVICE on growing your own vegetables will be available at a harvest festival this weekend.

Ray Basett, from the National Vegetable Society, will offer tips to shoppers at Bridgemere Nursery and Garden World between 11am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Garden centre general manager Gary Kemp said: "Ray is an expert in horticulture and has been popular with customers when he's appeared at the garden centre in the past.

"He'll be bringing along a selection of his award-winning vegetables for people to see."

Ray, who lives in Hopton, in Staffordshire, has been a member of the National Vegetable Society since 1985. He has won 139 major trophies for his fruit and vegetables.
