'Tell people about your success...'
DAVID Carr OBE, chairman of The Sentinel Business Awards' judging panel, said the awards are a "golden opportunity" for firms to showcase their success.
Mr Carr, pictured, a former managing partner at Festival Park architects Hulme Upright, is no stranger to that himself.

In 2008 he won the Lifetime Achievement Award to mark his 40-year plus contribution to business and the community in North Staffordshire.
When he retired from Hulme Upright in April 2008, 250 business, political and community leaders gathered at the Britannia Stadium to mark the occasion.

Mr Carr, who lives in Cheadle, said: "The Sentinel Business Awards are the most wonderful opportunity for companies and individuals to showcase their success and to encourage others to emulate that. I've been involved almost from the inception and the judging is always difficult and always closely fought because there are so many good entries. Entering and winning raises the profile of the individual or the company concerned as well as the area, because success is infectious.
"If people see something good going on they will try to emulate that and The Sentinel Business Awards has always been that kind of event."
Mr Carr had a word of advice for prospective entrants. He said: "Don't be afraid to seek expert help to structure your submission and make it as good as it can be.
"The Business Support Team at Keele University Science and Business Park have people that can help, as does the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce. There are also private consultants out there who can support you."
He added: "I think Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire firms can sometimes hide their success under a bushel, because they underestimate just how good they are. You've earned the success you're enjoying, so tell people about it."
