Teen jailed for brutal attack on passers-by
TEENAGE robber David McKay has been sent to custody for two years and four months after he beat up and robbed two men.
The 18-year-old, of Leese Street, Stoke, admitted robbing the men at a bus stop on the A34 in Newcastle in the early hours of August 5.
His co-accused Nicholas Plant, aged 25, of the same address, admitted assaulting one of the victims occasioning him actual bodily harm.
Prosecutor Robert Price told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday that 25-year-old Jay Davis, Antony Myatt, Elizabeth Rendell and another man bought alcohol from Tesco at 1am before walking along the A34 towards Newcastle.
They stopped at a bus shelter and drank some of the alcohol when they were approached by three men including the two defendants. The complainants decided to leave.
"Elizabeth Rendell heard a noise from behind. When she looked round she saw Antony Myatt on the floor. A member of the defendants' group had attacked him and rendered him unconscious," said Mr Price.
"At that stage McKay was standing over him. He bent down and searched through his pockets, stealing a mobile which he pocketed.
"Mr Davis tried to intervene and help.
"McKay kicked him to the stomach and searched his pockets and robbed his wallet, keys and cigarettes.
"He went back to Mr Myatt, who was still on the ground unconscious, and kicked him several times and stamped on his face.
"Plant kicked Mr Davis several times to the body."
All three men ran away. The third man was arrested, but was never charged.
Mr Myatt received treatment at hospital for bruising to his forehead, left eye and cheek. Mr Davis suffered soreness to the left side of his face.
Both defendants were arrested later that day. Both answered no comment to all questions put to them in their police interviews.
Joanne Wallbanks, defending McKay, conceded it was an "appalling offence" committed on the spur of the moment. She said McKay was very remorseful.
Jason Holt, defending Plant, said his client was "disgusted" with what he did and asked Judge Paul Glenn to consider suspending the prison sentence.
The judge described McKay as the "ringleader" and sentenced him to 28 months' detention in a young offenders' institution.
Jailing Plant for six months, Judge Glenn said: "You quite gratuitously put the boot in. It was a cowardly act."

“Mick,Where on this page did anyone mention babies, and bullets,Oh hang on,so now you are calling these thugs babies, You really have lost the plot Mick, To compare people in europe to the mindless morons that roam our streets is in it's self idiotic, These generations of scum have been allowed to breed and spread their filth nationwide. This Labour government has perpetuated the situation by allowing them to sit on their backsides, on full pay,Child allowance, housing benefit. money for drugs, or drink, it goes on , and on.
Now tell me Mick, would that be allowed to happen in any other country in Europe ?, NO.
Why is it Mick we have the Largest amount of il-educated,
pregnant children in Europe.
The largest child crime,
The largest child poverty. etc.
Because this slimy, thieving government has let, neigh encouraged people by their own actions,That thieving is ok,and you will not get punished for it, In fact you will be rewarded.”

“Ebee Beejeebee of Stoke, (and Craig of Stoke-on-Trent) -you have been brainwashed by false statistics -probably taken off the pages of the Daily Wail.
We can swap stats forever and a day I suppose, but the fact remains that the Isle of Man birching brigade lost the moral argument. It is a fact that the European education system, and rule of law, means less violence of the street. Friday and Saturday night in the UK is a far more dangerous place to be than anywhere in Western Europe. I have worked over there for years and I know where I felt the safest at weekends when the pubs/clubs closed. They have moved on and spent money on progressive policies, whilst we have done nothing to help our own problem families -in the early years when the first sign becomes apparent that they can't cope. What have we done instead? Ignored it and hoped the Schools could solve it. The Schools were not equipped to deal with children from homes where inadequate parenting failed their young offspring and left the Schools to 'pick up the pieces'. What a shambles of a country to take that line. We should come off our pedestal and admit that the rest of Europe do things better than us. Get your heads out of the sand and take responsibility for your fellow man, instead of breathing hatred and fanning the flames of violence among the young. 'Bullets into babies brains' -even as a joke -is sick and reinforces my point of view.”

“I am here again repeating my mantra- the parents of these thugs need punishing. One was 14 years old why was she out in the early hours? Why am I and the majority affected by the minority? Make parents responsible, NOW.”

“Stamping on an unconsious mans face is inexcusable. This countrys idea of punishment is always in favour of the person committing the crime. If i was to walk past someone unconsious on the floor without offering help i understand i would be commiting a crime. So this person has not only caused this injury but added to it. That shows this person is not fit to walk amongst us. 10 years is not enough. Get them off the streets. Make his mates and others like him scared of doing the same thing to another innocent person.”

“Mick,You really are demented. The problems were created by people like you are, We reward the young thugs by sending them on outward bound courses, holidays abroad etc, instead of punishing them for their crimes. It was people like you who had corporal punishment stopped, that worked didn't it .NOT. "Face up to their inner selves", These people do not have a concience, because they have no morals, they do not go out to work like normal people, because it is easier to rob,and mug hard working people. I will tell you a story Mick, I used to live and work in the isle of man, at that time they had not birched anyone for fiffteen years, but the threat was still their, Crime on the island was almost nil. Then along came the EU, and told them they had to abolish the birch. The crime on the island went up twenty five % in two years. The moral should be there for even someone as blinkered as you to see. You have been reading to many books written by like minded dumbo's.”

“Lock him up and forget about him. He can mull over his remorse in a cell. Mindless violence cannot be tolerated. Lock these thugs up until they are reformed or too old and weak to pose a serious threat.”

“Quote -from Andrew of Longton:- How often do we hear this vebal dioreha (spelt wrong I know) ....
If you know that it is spelt wrongly, why do you abuse us with your lazy attitude? Don't you have a Dictionary? Don't care about your readers? Don't you respect the English Language?
I suggest your indolence in this regard reflects the way you seek easy answers to the violence within our society today. Pick up the first thing that comes to hand and smash it over their heads -once the culprits are securely shackled that is, and you yourself are not at risk.
If you were as slow to pick up the birch, as you are to get up off your a*se and pick up a Dictionary -then I may have more respect for your point of view.”

“Mick.I nearly fell of my chair laughing at your post. Why do we always make things so difficult for ourselves. This all emanates from allowing sub normal people to produce morons like these. because of people like soft option mick, we have allowed morons to produce generations of ill educated morons. Anyone could go around to any school in this city, and pick out the up and coming crims like these. It is far too late for the above no-marks, the problem needs to be addressed in the early primary schools. Alas the best solution to these thugs would be a bullet in their tiny brains, but Mick would not allow it. Other than that make them feel pain, and fear like their victims did.”
