Teen injured in brick attack
TEENAGER Matthew Hill threw a brick at a friend after a row.
The 19-year-old was with a group of friends in a yard in Nash Peake Street, Tunstall, at 9pm on June 17.
Prosecutor David Bennett told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court: "The defendant's group began to throw bricks.
"The complainant was not involved in throwing bricks.
"The defendant picked up a brick and threw it at the complainant and it hit him on the forehead. On his way home he fell over and fractured his left wrist."
The court heard the 17-year-old victim suffered a black eye and a cut to his forehead.
Hill, of Ladywell Road, Tunstall, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Heather Drew, mitigating, said: "It is not a case where it was premeditated."
Judge Paul Glenn sentenced him to eight months in a young offenders' institution, suspended for two years, with 18 months' supervision and 200 hours' unpaid work. He will pay £1,000 compensation.
