Teams wanted for charity race

TEAMS are wanted to take part in an annual dragon boat race.

Last year's Rudyard Lake fund-raiser secured almost £10,000 towards the operating costs of award-winning charity Sailability.

This year organisers are hoping 24 teams will take part in the event, which will be held on July 7, and has been sponsored by Cheddleton animal rendering plant John Pointon and Sons.

Each team will need 11 paddlers and must raise £200 to enter.

Teams are invited to take part in fancy dress on the theme of the Olympics or the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Sailability secretary Jackie Griffiths said: "It is always a great day and everyone enjoys themselves.

"Last year we raised nearly £10,000 and had fantastic support from the community."
