Team submits new bank bid
A BID to attract the world's first Green Investment Bank to Stoke-on-Trent has today been submitted to the Government.
More than 20 areas are bidding for the Government bank, which will invest an initial £3 billion in major renewable energy projects.
The bank will also bring up to 100 highly-skilled jobs to the selected area.
The Stoke-on-Trent bid has been co-ordinated by the city council and has the backing of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Local Enterprise Partnership as well as major financial institutions.
The bid team hopes Stoke-on-Trent's cheap land and superb transport links will win the day. A site for the bank within the Potteries has not been revealed.
The Government is expected to reveal the winning bid next month.
