Taxis parked in pedestrian zone
I RECENTLY visited Hanley to have a look at the improvements in Stafford Street.
Fences had been removed to give access for pedestrians to walk down Stafford Street, on the opposite side to Wilkinson.
However, it was a disappointment to see a new walking area occupied by taxis at a distance from the toilet block to the crossing for pedestrians.
This then went beyond to the crossing by The Albion and caused pedestrians to divert and manoeuvre around parked taxis.

Surely we do not require this amount of taxis – I counted 23 – leaving only a gap by the crossing?
It seems that our council tax is being diverted in the wrong direction.
Where are the traffic wardens, as these taxis are parked with four wheels on the pavement, and on double yellow lines?
I paid my parking dues for my parking. It seems taxis have priority.
