LEGAL action has been called off against an Indian takeaway which was at the centre of a copyright row.

Businessman Muhammed Ali opened Malik's, in Chesterton, in August. But the 30-year-old faced having to start again after being accused of breaching a trademark owned by a restaurant 150 miles away.

Beta UK, which runs Malik's Tandoori Restaurant in Cookham, near Maidenhead, and a sister restaurant in Buckinghamshire, told Mr Ali to change his restaurant's name or face court action.

But Mr Ali's solicitor has now received a letter from the legal team representing Beta UK, informing them no further action will be taken.

Mr Ali, aged 30, said: "This is great news for the business. I couldn't understand it because this other restaurant is 150 miles away."
