TALENTED Cheadle ASC swimmers were denied a team trophy at a B meet gala in Matlock after receiving "speeding tickets".

The Moorlands club dominated the six-team gala, but lost points after members swam too fast for the designated cut-off times.

Despite the deductions, Cheadle still took the runners-up spot – just 11 points behind eventual winners Rykneld.

Over the course of the evening, Cheadle gained a creditable eight first places.

Tiegan Bostock took the honours in the girls 10yr backstroke, while in the girls 12yr backstroke Charlotte Rawle topped the podium.

Fletcher Rushton touched first in the boys 12yr butterfly and, in the girls' equivalent race, Brittany Allen led her rivals home.

Relay success arrived in both the girls 12yr medley and freestyle events relay team with Chloe Eyre, Brittany Allen, Charlotte Rawle, Zara Bailey leading the field home.

That success was emulated by Charlotte Hubble, Emily Groves, Lauren Milward and Sophie Clowes, who took the girls 14yr medley and freestyle relay titles.

Cheadle ASC swimmers also touched second on 13 separate occasions.

Adam Sherratt claimed the runners-up spot in the boys nine-year freestyle.

The girls 10yr freestyle and medley relay team of Tiegan Bostock, Katie Forrester, Beth Nicholls and Sasha Hawksworth twice finished second. Jordan Nixon, Huw Morgan, Sam Eyre, and Ben Deeth followed suit in the boys 10yr medley relay.

Huw Morgan was second in the boys 10yr breaststroke and Sasha Hawksworth repeated the trick in the girls equivalent.

Second place in the girls 12yr breaststroke went to Charlotte Rawle, with Tom Pritchard second in the boys 12yr freestyle.

James Jackson grabbed the silver medal position in the boys 14yr backstroke.

Sophie Clowes was second in the girls 14yr backstroke and the girls 14yr breaststroke runner-up position went to Emily Groves.

Jacob Deeth also claimed second in the boys 14yr butterfly and Cheadle ASC took second in the cannon relay.

A host of Cheadle swimmers also claimed bronze medal finishes in their respective individual relay races.

Those went to: Beth Thomas, Ben Deeth, Sam Eyre, Jordan Nixon, Huw Morgan, Sam Eyre, Thomas Pritchard, Zara Bailey, Fletcher Rushton, James Jackson, Lauren Milward, Sophie Clowes, Adam Sherratt, Ryan Sherratt, Beth Thomas, Becky Sammons, Sasha Hawksworth, Tiegan Bostock, Becky Sammons, Beth Thomas, Katie Forrester and Beth Nicholls.

Cheadle ASC is continuing to strengthen its junior team and interested swimmers, aged between seven and nine, are invited to attend a trial at the club.

Those interested in having a trial are asked to contact chairman Sylvia Long on 07973 347360.
