FIRST CLASS: Popular postie Frank Willott has delivered his last letters after 13 years

serving his community.

Residents in Stanley and Bagnall paid tribute to his dedication with a surprise retirement party.

Frank, pictured, was expecting to meet his sister for a meal at the Travellers Rest pub but was shocked to find more than 100 people gathered for the send-off.

Frank, aged 63, of Mount Road, Leek, said: "This party has been a big shock.

"I only started delivering post to help out over Christmas, but they offered to take me on.

"I recommend working as a postman because you get to meet lots of fantastic people."

Frank was presented with a painting of his beloved Westie dog, Jock who died a few months ago, and a cheque for £230.

Plumber Paul Davies, aged 40, of Stanley, who organised the presentation, said: "Frank always provided a first-class service and won the hearts of residents for his willingness to go beyond the call of duty."
