Superbug link to drug
EXPERTS are warning hospital staff and visitors about the dangers of over-using antibiotic drugs.
The practice can lead to the development of the so-called superbug C-Difficile, which can kill people already weakened by another illness.
To help drive home the message, pharmacists recently put on a display about the issue at the restaurant at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. It was timed to coincide with European Antibiotic Awareness Day.
Pharmacist Jackie Yates said: "There are many alternative methods of care to avoid over-using antibiotics."
