by Mark Peck

Chell Heath Knave also went through to the next phase after a 3-2 victory over Red Lion Chest.

Chell were cruising when Lee Tinsley's hat-trick gave them a 3-0 lead, but two goals from Division Two Red Lion made it a nervous finish for the Premier Division strugglers.

There was a 10-goal thriller when Trentham Tavern met Division One counterparts Old Corner Cupboard.

Both sides were deadlocked at 5-5, but Old Corner Cupboard eventually triumphed 3-0 on penalties.

Division One side Gillow Heath survived a scare before winning 3-2 at home to Division Three high-fliers Hazelhurst.

Gillow were trailing 2-0 before Darren Butler's brace helped them turn the game around.

In the other games, Madeley White Star lost 2-0 at home to in-form Division Two side Castle Borough, while Hollybush Vics versus Trentham North End was called off.

There was also action in the J&J Tatters Trophy for Coors League sides. Gardeners Rest won 4-2 at Division Two counterparts Bradwell WMC, while the cricketers of Kidsgrove CRCC are still 'not out' after their 4-2 win at home to Division Four outfit Chesters.

In the other games, Jim Alcock's treble ensured Division Two side Gardeners Retreat beat battling Division Four side Village Town 3-2.

Division Two's Birches Head Hotel lost 2-0 away to Division Four side Harecastle, while the game between Pool Dole and Royal Oak was postponed.
