A GROUP of student film-makers have completed a documentary supporting a campaign to save a city pub.

First-year media production student Adam Georgiou, aged 20, joined four other students from Staffordshire University to create the This Town film about the Coachmakers Arms.

Their project came as a result of Realis Estates' proposed redevelopment of Hanley Bus Station, which would involve demolishing the Camra-award-winning pub.

Adam, who directed the film, said: "Everyone recognises there has to be progress, but some things should be kept. We wanted to show the Coachmakers is a nice pub with a good atmosphere and people who share lots of good memories.

"Developments in other cities have accommodated heritage, and we think the same could be done in Hanley."
