Strong winds force tourist venue to shut
A TOURIST attraction was forced to close as a result of high-speed winds.
The Trentham Estate shut its woodland walks yesterday morning and closed the Italian gardens when branches continued to fall from the trees.
Visitors are usually welcomed to the attraction every day except Christmas Day.
A spokesman said: "The safety of our visitors always has to come first.
"We lost some trees in the woodland area and had to be mindful of safety where branches are coming down.
"We believe it was only a small amount of damage, but can't assess the full extent until the winds die down and we have enough light."
Potential visitors are advised to check with the estate today before travelling in order to avoid disappointment.
It comes as high winds caused a trail of destruction across the region.
