I see the council have tampered with the lights sequence at the bottom of Shelton Old Rd/Stoke Rd A500 junction yet again, do they know what they're doing?

Why do the council mess with them? The traffic build up here this morning was mad compared to what it usually is, do any of the technicians who alter the sequences actually drive through places like this on a regular basis? I could do a far better job myself with timing and the introduction of left flow filter lights, perfectly easy and safe to use here as well as other busy junctions to keep the city moving, instead it's the all too familiar scenario of them messing and causing more delays and tailbacks. Get it right, thats what you're paid to do.

“Clearly none of you is a traffic engineer and you don't know anything about the history of the way the signals were installed by the Highways Agency (part of the Department for Transport) and not by the City Council. I would hazard from what I know about them that the problem is caused by the failure of some of the equipment and not by anything done by the Council. But perhaps you all know better. You are all pathetic.”

“I suspect the lights timings is worked out by some grand computer programme hundreds of miles away and the engineer taps in whatever the computer says will work best. And computers are never wrong, are they!

We must think ourselves lucky we arent in birmingham where light timings have special built-in delays where all traffic sits at red for minutes at a time to discourage road use.”

“the only thing they seem to do well is install speed cameras to boost incomes.”

“Soke council is sadly lacking in vision regarding traffic management. When one travels to other areas it can be a pleasure to witness better traffic light phasing, filter lanes, tidal flow systems.Surely at least some of our councillors drive elsewhere and could perhaps take the blinkers off their colleagues.FedupDave”

“Unfortunately this is one of many road junctions where the light sequences are beyond belief. One such set of lights are those on the A34 coming from off the City General Hospital area. They change to red for no reason and after sitting there, vehicle belching out co2,for over 30 seconds they eventually change to green having allowed no other vehicle access onto the A34. There is just no excuse for it at 5 o'clock in the morning when there is so little traffic around. The 'head honcho's are probably bike riding, sandle wearing, vegie's with an utter hatred of gas guzzling vehicles but who can afford to go on three holidays a year, abroad and on aircraft belching out even more co2,as a result of the excessive pay they receive, via the public purse, for their experience in road traffic 'management'.”
