A STOKE-ON-TRENT City councillor has been suspended from his party amid an on-going police investigation, it has been revealed.

The Labour member for Weston Coyney, Cllr Matthew Fry, is understood to have been suspended by his party, meaning he is now not allowed to attend party meetings or represent Labour on any of the council’s committees.

The details of the investigation are yet to be confirmed, although a Stoke-on-Trent City Council spokesman said: “City Council officers are aware of the issue.

“We understand there is an on-going police investigation and it is not appropriate for us to comment any further at this stage.”
