Adam, 26, completed his move before midday and the club is now hopeful he will be available for Saturday's trip to Wigan.

Manager Tony Pulis said he was delighted to sign a midfielder who would bring to the side a proven goal threat.

"It's no secret that we've been looking to bring more goals to the squad and Charlie is a fantastic signing in that respect," he said.

Adam said he was joining a club "on the up".

"I'm delighted to be here and to be given the opportunity to work with the club, the manager and the players," he told City's official website today.

"This club's on the up and it's great to be a part of it. I hope I can help them to improve upon the success which has been achieved over the past few years.

"Hopefully, we can have a successful time together. I can do this club proud and I'm looking forward to the chance of playing in front of their passionate supporters."

Scottish international Adam joined Liverpool from Blackpool for £7m in July 2011.

He made 37 appearances for the Reds and was part of the team that lifted the Carling Cup at Wembley.

“Theres nothing of the sort, soccrefoot. You threw down a challenge, I answered in kind.

Then you turn around and twist my words into something else.

But thats nothing new, so whos surprised?”

“sulivan it was an entertaining game, never said otherwise, just another bloody draw and no wins in 9 league matches. I realize people like you don't care if we win lose or draw, but a little message for you, we won't stay up drawing every game !!”

“You've got a crooked counting method; if it was anything to go by, Stoke was playing 2-6-2 today, surely aninnovation .. except of course we weren't.

Most people seem to agree it was a hugely entertaining match, but you ... of course can only focus on the negatives.”

    “Diao ??
we certainly have a boat load of midfielders to choose from, for some really strange reason, 14 at last count and N'Zonzi is anything but an attacking midfielder, but we still need defending ones too. Just wondering how many variations of midfielders we could actually put out there in the season with all of them !
    14 ???”

“Despite the abundance of midfielders we now appear to have on our books, I can't help feeling that for a modest outlay of £12M we have bought well in Ness, Cameron,Kightly,Adam and Nzonzi.

All are more offensive midfielders and I can see them all replacing the likes of Diao,Whelan,Whitehead,Arismendi, Palacios and Delap.

Surely this is progress and yet still people moan?

Sticking rigidly to the article (and ignoring the usual 'mass debaters' on this site )I think Charlie Adam in particular will relish the role he can play at Stoke and will quickly become a crowd favourite?

Welcome Charlie (and others as well, of course).”

“and so it goes as Pulis continues his quest to become the only manager ever to draw every single league game! But hey, we didn't lose right ! and 3 points from 9.”
