STOKE CITY keeper Jack Butland is hoping to help England under-21s extend their seven-game winning streak when they take on Romania at Wycombe's Adams Park tomorrow (7pm).

Butland is in the under-21 side having lost his place in the senior squad after West Brom's Ben Foster came out of retirement.

Stuart Pearce's under-21 side are already through to this summer's European Championships in Israel.

They haven't lost a game since 2011, but Butland says the players won't be taking the game against Romania lightly.

Butland, who cost Stoke £3m from Birmingham in January, said: "This is a chance for everyone to put a marker down and try to get to Israel in the summer. It will be a fantastic tournament."

Butland was part of the England team which won the under-17s European Championships in Liechtenstein 2010.

The keeper was voted in the squad of the tournament after England lifted the trophy by beating Spain in the final.

“"Butland says the players won't be taking the game against Romania lightly" - I hope not, England's U21's worst ever loss was 4-0 to Romania! Not to mention even the seniors have a bad record against Romania (3 losses and six draws, and just two wins). And Romania have a great generation coming up again, as long as the stupid managers and club owners don't **** them over again and the players are more serious, the sky is the limit.”
