"A bigger Stokie you will not find than Peter William Bunn. He took me and my brother everywhere.

"Family and Stoke City were everything to him. He was everything to his family.

Peter died while he was travelling home with family and friends after seeing his beloved Potters win against Fulham at around 5.15pm on Saturday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

Anthony added: "I can't believe that I won't be seeing him with his manager's coat on again.

"But the script was written by the footballing gods – 3pm Saturday kick off, Stoke win, and he's with his best mate.

"Thanks for the greatest gift ever, for taking me and Phil by the hand and to the Victoria Ground, to truly belong.

"You were unforgettable Dad."

Bryan Shaw, chairman of the Stoke City Official Supporters Club, said: "It's tragic news that such a dedicated fan has passed away.

"My deepest sympathies go out to Peter's family at this difficult time."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a medical incident at 5.15pm in Lonsdale Street in Stoke.

"An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene and one male patient was treated and conveyed to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire."

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "At 5.45pm on Saturday officers assisted colleagues from the ambulance service, who were dealing with a man who had suffered a suspected cardiac arrest on Lonsdale Street, Stoke.

"Officers took a family member to hospital and assisted in taking the man's vehicle home.

"No further police involvement was required."

“Tributes to a man I have known all my life, and who was an inspiration when I was younger. Peter was one of the most local and loyal fanatical Stoke City supporters you would ever find. Stoke was a big part of his life. Stoke City have truly lost one of its greatest supporters over the decades its an end of an era.

I would also like to give Phil, Anthony and Sheila and the other family members my deepest sympathy and condolences, my prayers and thoughts are with them all at this difficult time.”
