Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross believes the referee was correct to send Ricardo Fuller off after the striker's altercation with Andy Griffin.

Shawcross looked on as Fuller appeared to clip Griffin around the face following a brief confrontation following West Ham's equaliser.

He said: “You cannot do that in football. It was unacceptable. If you do that to another player, you will be sent off.

“He’s a top lad and his frustration got the better of him.”
