MASTER craftsman Andrew Edwards, the artist creating the statues of Sir Stanley Matthews and Gordon Banks at the Britannia Stadium, has presented Tony Pulis with a unique thank you for keeping Stoke safe.

The Potteries-born sculptor has created a 12-inch statuette of boxing hero Joe Calzaghe to celebrate the knockout blow Pulis and co have delivered to all their critics.

"It seemed an appropriate gesture," said Edwards, himself a City fan, "because both Joe and Tony are from Monmouthshire, an area which has a strong mining connection with Staffordshire."
