Stoke City: Pulis dismisses Murphy speculation
STOKE City manager Tony Pulis has this morning dismissed reports of an approach to offer Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy a player-coach role at the Britannia Stadium.
"There is nothing in it," Pulis asserted.

"Like a lot of stories involving us at the moment, there is nothing in it."
Murphy played all 38 league games for Fulham last season, but could now be surplus to requirements as Fulham boss Roy Hodgson continues chasing West Brom midfielder Jonathan Greening.
Murphy is known to favour a move into coaching eventually and Stoke are still seeking an assistant manager to replace Dave Kemp following his move to America as a full-time scout.

“I heard some numpty on the radio this morning praising TP for not getting involved with the crazy transfer fees. He doesn't cuz he knows he can't afford to. Like it or not PC steers a tight ship that will never end up in the mess that newcastle & leeds have. Give him some credit. Was Beattie not the buy of the year last season or Mr Fancy Face Robinho @ £35 million.”

“Dave Kidsgrove
I have to disagree with you.
There is no way Danny Murphy is technically too good for anyone in this division for a start.
Mbia wanted 75k a week so the club were right to pack him off to Marseille.
What do you honestly expect? We have been in this division one season and already people are criticising the management because we dont break the bank to sign over paid premadonnas who dont give two hoots about SCFC.
To be totally honest I would rather us sign no one than half of the crazy transfer goings on that are flying about at the moment.
£12 million for Crouch - my god what a god awful player for £12 million.
Fair play to TP and Coates for not getting drawn into the transfer merrygoround and wasting money left right and centre on money grabbing so called "Big Names".
We finished 12th last year with a squad containing several championship players which goes to show exactly how overhyped the premier league is. People are happy to get spoonfed rubbish from skysports on a sunday whilst watching Man Utd on their sofa's then turn round and say Stoke should be signing all these players.
You are not Stoke fans you are clueless idiots.”

“Nice but dim., I was there when we got relegated to Division 2. I remember it well, I was on the pitch at the end we'd just played Swindon, I was there under Durban, Mills, Ball, Macari, Bates etc. Anymore information?”

“Take an average Champioship club with average crowd 15,000, get it promoted to the Premiership, finish 12th in your first season with average crowd 28,000 while Newcastle get relegated with average crowd 50,000 and 10 times your budget and earn the name "Clueless". It could only happen at Stoke. If Newcastle had the brains to offer him millions and nick him from Stoke they would win the Championship by a mile but they won't , they will go for big bucks Shearer and fall flat on their backsides.”
