STOKE City officially have the loudest fans in the Premier League. How the team needs each and every one of them to help them stay up this season, writes Martin Spinks.

This comprehensive defeat was further evidence, if any were needed, that Stoke are going to have to rely on their home form if their long-awaited return to the top-flight is to last more than a season.

Stoke, as you would expect, battled to the end at the City of Manchester Stadium, but they have found the gulf in class much tougher to negotiate away from home than they have at the Brit.

“Yes, there are some right big mouths in the city, and some right fat a****. Its a shame they can drag get them down the polling stations to vote in a referedem on how this city is run, cos they sore as hell can get them to a ruddy football match.”

“Must admit fans come across very loud and clear from all the games I have seen over the net. Regularly we receive favourable comments from the commentators of such matches. The biggest surprise for me was on our local channel 10 news last week which reported after the Spurs game that 'Stoke City's poor stadium is more than compensated by their passionate fans' I think they were focusing on the gap in the fence before cueing to a tv shot of the Boothen end in full voice.
My only comment would be more new chants. We can't always rely on Delilah”

“I went to yesterdays match as I am a big Man City fan, and of course came away smiling at the result, but I want to comment on the Stoke fans, how fantastic they are to a team who is always put down by the media, the sports pundits and other fans of other teams. They sang their hearts out even when Stoke were 3-0 down they carried on, and how brilliant is that, they did their team so proud yesterday, and the players did the fans proud. To come into the premiership and face all the big teams, they turn out every week, and play with fighting spirit. I felt yesterday that I got value for money, the atmosphere was amazing, Tony Pulis suports his lads from kick off to the final whistle, he never sits down, the team spirit shines right through from the manager, to the loyal fans. Stoke played well yesterday, well done, hopefully you will still be in the Premiership next year Stoke, if nothing else just to prove all the people who are quick at knocking you down wrong. Good luck”
