(Huth, 15)

STOKE won at Goodison Park for the first time since 1981 thanks to Robert Huth's tidy finish from a half-cleared corner.

Stoke's victory, preceded by a pre-match tribute to ex-Evertonian Gary Speed, was their first after a Europa League fixture following four defeats out of four in previous games played in the wake of European ties.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert (Gueye, 83), Baines, Heitinga, Jagielka, Coleman, Cahill, Osman, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov (Rodwell, 63), Vellios (Stracqualursi, 76).

Stoke City: Sorensen (Begovic, 74), Woodgate (Wilkinson, 53), Wilson, Shawcross, Huth, Shotton, Whelan, Whitehead, Etherington (Upson, 90), Walters, Crouch.

Attendance: 33,219.

FORM GUIDE

Stoke City: LWDLD

Everton: DWLDW

WHO WE'D LIKE TO SIGN

Nikica Jelavic: Ten goals in his first 13 appearances since signing for Everton from Glasgow Rangers is the kind of scoring rate Stoke could do with.

WHO TO BOO

Marouane Fellaini, pictured right: That hair is the biggest fire hazard in these parts since George Berry first swaggered into town three decades ago.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Anthony Taylor (Manchester): Sent off three players in his first game of the season between Leeds and Middlesbrough. Was last at the Britannia Stadium for January's home defeat to West Brom.

PROBABLE TEAMS

Stoke City: Begovic, Huth, Wilson, Shawcross, Upson, Shotton, Palacios, Delap, Etherington, Walters, Crouch.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Heitinga, Jagielka, Distin, Neville, Gibson, Pienaar, Fellaini, Osman, Jelavic.

PREDICTION

NIKICA Jelavic strikes twice in the first half, but Stoke storm back to level with goals from Peter Crouch and Ryan Shawcross.

“That is such a childish comment soccerfoot that my joke about you being twelve tears old is made more realistic.

Like a team can just score goals at will and that they somehow could be told not to! Truly that is just pathetic.

Have you not got the common sense to see that all teams would love to score more goals? that really is the comment of someone who does not understand the game never mind the club. Truly unbelievable”

“DJofTNe, that was our 9th 1-1 draw of the season and 5th in the last 8 games. Imagine what a bit of attacking and a couple of goals here and there would have done for a few extra points in the league !”

“I have a £50 double at 11/10 Man City to beat Man Utd and Everton to beat Stoke at 6/4 and I have just placed bets at £20 the draw at 7/2 and £10 Stoke to win at 12/1. Will win whatever happens now. Come on Stoke!”

“If we pretend that Everton are a top 6 team, Pulis just might use a little more positivity in his tactics. However, it is needed for more than the usual 15-20 minutes. Everton are in good form, they have scored 4 goals in each of their last 3 games and against good opposition. after some disappointing performances from Whelan and Walters on Saturday I would start with the following line up
    Sorenson
Wilkinson (if fit) Huth Shawcross Wilson
    Pennant Palacios Whitehead Etherington
    Crouch Jerome
    result 3-1 good guys
    up the potters”
