STOKE City are freezing season ticket prices for the fifth successive year.

The club are holding prices at their current levels across the board as a 'thank you' to fans for their support ... and in recognition that many of them may have been hit by the country's worsening economic problems.

The decision to freeze prices again means supporters will be paying exactly the same to watch the Potters next term as they did in 2008/09, the club's debut season in the Premier League.

Adult season tickets in the Boothen End will be available for £344 – or just £18.10 per game over 19 matches if City are still in the Premier League next season.

Average prices in the Family Stand will again be £2 for under-11s and £4 for under-14s.

The tickets go on sale on March 6 and the cheapest deals are available until the "Early-Bird" deadline on March 30.

Chief executive Tony Scholes said the club wanted football at Stoke to be affordable for as many supporters as possible.

He added: "You could make a case for a price rise because of the quality that people are watching and the fact our wage bill has gone up exponentially to bring in international calibre players.

"We are also playing against some of the best teams in the world.

"Our season tickets are already among the cheapest in the Premier League, cheaper than West Brom and Wolves for example.

"However, like everyone else, we are aware of the economic plight and the fact people have to make sacrifices.

"We are determined to keep top level football as affordable as possible."

Stoke sold a club record 22,000 season tickets for the current campaign, including half-season tickets.

Scholes said prices had also been frozen to help ensure Tony Pulis's side get as much support as possible at the Britannia Stadium again.

He explained: "You succeed primarily because of your home results across a season and so sell-outs are very important to us.

"But we are aware of what people have had to spend to follow us in the cups.

"This is the third year in a row we have been in the FA Cup quarter-finals and we have also had a European adventure.

"That has been magnificent, but it has cost money.

"Our support once again has been superb, and this decision is a 'thank-you' for that and also a recognition of the difficult economic conditions."

STOKE'S FA Cup quarter-final at Liverpool will be played on Sunday, March 18. It will kick-off at 4pm and be screened live on ITV.

The Potters' Premier League match at Tottenham, which was scheduled to have been played on Saturday, March 17, has yet to be rearranged.

“Mmmm, yes soccerfoot my dear anti-fan, I am honestly sitting here and saying West Brom are not our biggest local rival and neither do any of the Stoke fans I know or have ever known. Maybe you would like to provide evidence that WBA are a team "we hate". Indeed you seem to overuse the word "we" when it you should be using the word "I" as an expression of your opinion rather than that of others. Similar dullards often take the same tack in a vain bid to universalise and evidence their erroneous views. You say you deal in realism. Hilarious my man, you have no idea whatsoever about the realities of the Premier League as your ill informed bleatings evidence. I don't know which weird universe you inhabit to be honest. It seems to be one where winning games, 4 continuous seasons in the Premier League, an FA Cup Final, qualification for the Europa league are less important than ensuring that we play in 'the right way', whatever that means. But hey, who would question the sage wisdom of someone who calls the beloved game of football 'soccer'. It's always great to reciprocate pomposity where it is warranted. It's a pity I do not have a more worth adversary to play with. Up The Potters! (if you know what that means) :-)”

“I'm not trying to be contraversial but the season tickets have gone up every year! After the early bird season ticket deadline passes the ticket price goes up and the following year the early bird prices are that price. Nobody can complain about this but it's very clever marketing!”

“I've been going to Stoke games regularly for 40 years and we have never seen West Brom as our biggest local rivals, they are just another team.”

“dj your patronizing of 4th division teams is pathetic, all in the name of making our exploits against them look much better !! There is a reason they are in League 2 and we are in the Premier League. With your logic why dont we just get out of the Prem and drop down to their league if its just as competetive for us !!?? The lengths you people go to to put lisptick on a pig really is amazing ! The facts are always ignored so you can make stuff up just to make us look better. Sorry, i deal in realism !
Stokiemart, you are honestly sitting there in all your glory and saying West Brom are not are biggest local rival and a team we hate ?? Even when i lived there 30 years ago it was such !! your pompous attitude just to make a point is quite laughable mart !!”

“Personally I love West Brom, they have donated more points to Stoke over the last 7 or 8 years than any other team. Always seen Arsenal as our arch enemies, the world will never be a fair and just place until we beat Arsenal in a FA Cup semi final 3-0. The first goal will come from a corner that never was, the second from a penalty for a handball that was really a header and the 3rd will be 10 yards offside.”

Hope the cost of watching Stoke on plasma in America goes through the roof tho'!”

“WBA our 'arch enemy' soccerfoot? I have never heard that before and I've been watching Stoke City for over 40 years. You're constant whining and simple lack of knowledge on issues such as this mark you as a detractor of our club rather than a fan I'm afraid. You manage to play the ignorant negativity card with aplomb and I must admit I enjoy a good laugh at your bleatings. Keep up the good work :-)”
