Stoke City: Michael Owen has not already been shown the door, says Tony Pulis
Michael Owen has not been told he is definitely being shown the exit door at the end of the season.
The former England striker is surely destined to cut his ties with Stoke when his one-year contract expires in the summer.
But manager Tony Pulis denies telling anyone that Owen has already been formally told he is a gonner.
A story appeared to that effect in the national press on Sunday.
But today, Pulis said: "I don't know where that story came from."
The club's hierarchy has already held several planning meetings about next season and Owen is widely expected to be among several players on their way out.
Others out of contract and heading out of the Potteries include Jermaine Pennant, Rory Delap, Matthew Upson and Mama Sidibe.
Dean Whitehead is also out of contract and has yet to open a dialogue with the club, but Pulis has yet to rule out another deal for the former Sunderland midfielder.
