GUIDED tours of the recently-opened Sir Stanley Matthews Museum are on offer to the public to celebrate what would have been the wing wizard's 94th birthday.

Schools and workplaces are also joining the annual celebration of Sir Stan's memory with the popular Wear It With Pride day.

Tours of the museum, which houses rare memorabilia and was opened four months ago at the Britannia Stadium, costs just £1 and that includes a commemorative badge with the words 'Sir Stan's Day 2009'.

The tours are available between 11am and 1pm on Friday, January 30 and anyone interested can log on to www.ssmf.co.uk for information.

Wear It With Pride takes place on the same day when adults in the workplace and children in schools are encouraged to wear their favourite sports top in return for a £1 donation, which entitles them to the commemorative badge.

Sixty per cent of the money raised in schools will go to the Foundation's work in promoting sporting opportunities for the underprivileged, the remaining 40 per cent going to the schools themselves.

Fans can donate directly to the Foundation through a bucket collection at Stoke's home fixture against Manchester City on Saturday, January 31, while badges are available to the public from North Staffordshire branches of Barclays Bank.

A gala dinner celebrating Sir Stan, and the work now being undertaken in his memory, will be held at the Britannia Stadium on Thursday, February 19.
