CELEBRITY Chelsea fan Tim Lovejoy – who pulled out the away teams for the quarter-finals – used his programme column to apologise to Stoke fans and dismiss conspiracy theories that the cFA Cup draw was rigged with heated balls.

He would have felt even worse if he knew toasted sphericals were one of the milder tortures being wished on him in living rooms throughout the Potteries after he handed City the toughest possible tie.
