Stoke City: Injured Glenn Whelan and Jon Walters miss Ireland training
GLENN Whelan and Jon Walters have sat out of training with the Republic of Ireland squad as they nurse injuries ahead of two crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Whelan (ankle) only lasted 45 minutes of Stoke City's 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday before being replaced by Dean Whitehead.

Stoke team-mates Glenn Whelan and Jon Walters are expected to be fit for two big Ireland World Cup qualifiers, despite missing training today.
However, the midfielder and City teammate Walters (back), as well as Millwall goalkeeper David Forde, are expected to recover in time to face Sweden in Solna on Friday.
Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni, who celebrated his 74th birthday yesterday, said: "Forde and Walters are ok, it was just a precaution.

"They are not in great pain. It was only for rest. I'm sure that tomorrow they can take part.
"Also Glenn, he's not swollen; that's important. It's just a knock and tomorrow he will be with us for sure."
Stoke defender Marc Wilson and former Potters right-back Stephen Kelly are also in a 23-man squad.
Ireland trail Sweden by one point in third after three games in World Cup Qualifying Group C. They play Austria, who sit two points behind in fourth, on Tuesday, March 26.
When asked about how his team would handle Sweden star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Trapattoni simply replied: "Whelan and Walters sit out Ireland training session."
