This is Staffordshire

I KNEW it wasn't going to be my day when I realised I had left my mate stranded at Sandbach Services on our way to the "Blue Camp". Even so, we arrived there with plenty of time to admire the impressive stadium. It was just a pity that Robinho was also in impressive form.

We had more than the odd sniff at goal ourselves, but when he notched his second goal just after the break we knew the game was effectively over. The army of Stokies then spent their time goading the home fans – what a pity they couldn't do this sitting down as we seem to be spending a lot of money these days to stand up.

In the end we were well beaten. Never mind lads, we have a home game on Wednesday and dare I say some winnable games in November.

AS I walked to the ground, I was thinking to myself... "don't allow them time on the ball – harrass them at every opportunity". What do we end up doing? Leave Robinho, arguably one of the greatest players in the world, unmarked on numerous occasions. We were lucky he only punished us three times. It was a harsh lesson and we thoroughly deserved to get beaten. We stood off them far too many times, with our central midfield pairing not imposing themselves on the game as they should have done. But we can put our wrongs right very quickly. It is so important that we make the Britannia a fortress. We have won 50 per cent of our games there so far and the Sunderland fixture is a match we should be targeting three points from. We need to pick ourselves up quickly. Bring it on!

JAMES KNOWLES, Eccleshall

GREAT atmosphere, fantastic stadium, shame about the result!

This was men against the boys and another lesson in how to shrug off defenders and take chances.

We did have three clear-cut chances, the first one falling to Shawcross midway through the first half. If this had gone in then maybe we could have capitalised, but instead we gave them too much space and our defence is poor, which in the past has been one of our strengths.

We knew getting points from away games was always going to be difficult, but only picking up one point from our travels is putting more pressure on the home games and creating a "must-win" situation.
