RORY Delap is longing for the day when his monumental throw-ins give the opposition the needle again – instead of himself.

Delap has been undergoing a long series of pain-killing injections to stave off the pain afflicting his shoulder.

And he goes into this weekend's clash at Blackburn not knowing if he can wind up those sling shots of his deep into enemy territory.

Only last week, there were gasps of surprise and sympathy from Stoke fans when he aborted his first throw against Fulham midway through to leave the ball trickling to the ground like a dud rocket.
