STOKE favourite Rory Delap takes on Manchester City tomorrow desperate to avenge his Wembley heartbreak two years ago.

Delap says he was inconsolable after Stoke were beaten 1-0 by City in the 2011 FA Cup Final.

Now he'd love to put the record straight and cause an upset when Barnsley go to the Etihad for tomorrow evening's quarter-final against Roberto Mancini's men.

Delap, who is on loan at Barnsley until the end of the season, says of his big Wembley moment two years ago: "It was a high, but one of the lowest moments in my career when the final whistle went.

"You don't want to speak to anyone, you just want to see the kids and the family. It was pretty emotional.

"For whatever reason, we didn't look like ourselves. We were a bit lethargic. We were carrying a couple of injuries, but that wasn't an excuse.

"It was a bit of a scrappy game. Then Yaya Toure managed to get one in and to be honest we never looked like getting back into it. It just didn't happen for us that day."

He naturally has better memories of the 5-0 semi-final win over Bolton back in 2011.

"The semi-final will go down as one of the best memories of my career. When we scored the third and knew we were going to win, you could enjoy the game. For the last 20 minutes, you could soak up the atmosphere."
